Ridin’ the Waves
'Ridin' the Waves’ is designed after a green sea turtle. Most summers when I was young, we would drive 4-10 hours down the coast to spend a week at the beach. More often than not, we would arrive just before or after the baby turtles would hatch and the coast would be covered with signs alerting of them. As far as sea animals go, turtles will always hold the number one spot for me.
Each section of this turtle is hand cut, shaped, and painted. The backer is a mixture of blues coated with epoxy to mimic underwater. The frame is made of Black Limba, hand sanded and finished with Sam Maloof oil.
